Night lights in Ha Noi
The city was very nicely decorated for 1,000th birthday of Ha Noi. Even though I arrived after the festivities, the decorations were still up.

Funny thing I overheard...
Walking near Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco (the epicenter of all things hippy in the 60s)... There was a (seemingly able-bodied) young couple camped out on the sidewalk with a cardboard sign asking for money. They had lots of dyed hair, piercings & tattoos, plus 2 dogs & a cat on leashes. As we walked by, the lady was eating something which the cat was very interested in. I overheard her say to the cat: "no begging, Castro, no begging."
